1. A highly contagious acute disease of chickens caused by the infectious bursal disease virus and characterised by whitish diarrhoea, dehydration, prostration, and destruction of the bursa of Fabricius, compromising the bird's immune system. Synonym: Gumboro disease. (05 Mar 2000)
