Medical Definition of Juvenile onset diabetes
1. A form of diabetes which has its onset in childhood. Also referred to as type I diabetes, juvenile onset diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. The exact cause is unknown but genetic factors seem to play a major role. Symptoms include excessive thirst, increased urination, weight loss (despite increased appetite), nausea, vomiting, fatigue and absent menstruation.
