Medical Definition of Lymphangiitis

1. Inflammation of a lymphatic vessel or vessels. Acute lymphangitis may result from spread of bacterial infection (most commonly beta haemolytic streptococci) into the lymphatics, manifested by painful subcutaneous red streaks along the course of the vessels.
