1. A small branch of the inferior alveolar nerve given off posteriorly just before the nerve enters the mandibular foramen, distributed to the anterior belly of the digastric muscle and to the mylohyoid muscle. Synonym: nervus mylohyoideus, nerve to mylohyoid. (05 Mar 2000)
