Medical Definition of Pharyngeal hypophysis
1. Residual tissue derived from the hypophysial diverticulum that lies in the lamina propria of the nasopharynx; its cells and their arrangement are identical with those of the pars distalis. Synonym: pars pharyngea hypophyseos. (05 Mar 2000)
