1. A stable, physiologically active compound formed in vivo from the prostaglandin endoperoxides. It is important in the platelet-release reaction (release of ADP and serotonin). Chemical name: Thromboxa-5,13-dien-1-oic acid, 9,11,15-trihydroxy-, (5Z,9alpha,13E,15S)- (12 Dec 1998)
