1. An extinct disease of swine caused by vesicular exanthema virus of swine, a member of the family Caliciviridae; it closely resembled foot-and-mouth disease and, in swine, was characterised by fever, loss of weight, and vesicles on the snout, tongue, and feet. (05 Mar 2000)
