1. Noun. A disease of bone occurring in the middle aged and elderly; excessive bone destruction sometimes leading to bone pain and fractures and skeletal deformities.

Medical Definition of Paget's disease

1. This is a disease of bone that initially results in the excessive resorption of bone (by osteoclasts) followed by the replacement of normal bone marrow with vascular and fibrous tissue. Many patients are asymptomatic and diagnosed by routine X-rays. (13 Nov 1997)
