Medical Definition of Anochromasia

1. 1. Failure of cells or other elements of tissue to be coloured in the usual manner when treated with a stain (or stains). 2. Accumulation of haemoglobin in the peripheral zone of erythrocytes, thereby resulting in a pale, virtually colourless central portion. Origin: G. Ano, upward, + chroma, colour (05 Mar 2000)
