Medical Definition of Long ciliary nerve

1. One of two or three branches of the nasociliary nerve, which by-pass the ciliary ganglion, supplying post-synaptic sympathetic fibres for the dilator pupillae muscle and sensory fibres for the ciliary muscles, iris, and cornea. Synonym: nervus ciliaris longus. (05 Mar 2000)
